About this policy

This policy describes the Pudding desktop app for macOS, developed by Greg Smith.

We don’t collect your data

Pudding does not collect, transmit to its developer, sell, or share personal data. It has no telemetry, analytics, advertising, tracking, or automatic crash-reporting service. You do not need an account.

Your music library, listening activity, and app settings are not sent anywhere.

What stays on your Mac

Pudding reads the music files and folders you choose so it can browse and play your collection. Library metadata, settings, recent items, playlists, and saved stations are stored locally. Playlists are ordinary files that you control.

This local information stays on your device unless you place it in a folder managed by a cloud storage or backup provider. Any syncing or downloading performed by that provider is governed by its own settings and privacy policy.

Local information remains until you remove it. You can remove saved stations, playlists, and app data from your Mac. There is no developer-held copy to request or delete. Removing Pudding does not automatically delete your music or playlist files.

Radio and network connections

Pudding’s network activity is limited to the radio stations and remote station playlists you choose to add or open, including the connections needed to resolve and play those streams. Local music playback does not require a network connection.

When you connect to a station or remote playlist, its provider and hosting services receive your IP address and the request needed to deliver the content. Those providers may keep connection logs under their own privacy policies. These connections go directly to the provider; they do not pass through a Pudding service.

You control which stations and remote playlists you use. Pause playback to disconnect from a radio stream, and remove a saved station when you no longer want it in your list.

If you contact us

Pudding has two support channels. Both are optional, and they handle what you send differently.

GitHub issues are public. If you post a question or bug report on the issue tracker, anyone can read it, and it is handled under GitHub’s privacy policy. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in an issue.

Email is private. If you write to pudding@incompl.com, Greg receives your message, your email address, and anything you choose to attach. Those messages sit in his email provider’s mailboxes and are handled under that provider’s privacy policy.

In both cases, Greg uses what you send only to answer you and to investigate the problem. Your email address is never added to a mailing list, sold, or shared. Support email is kept as long as it is useful for support history; if you would like your correspondence deleted, ask and it will be.

Changes and contact

If Pudding’s privacy practices change, this page will be updated with a new effective date.
